Padding in the Florida Keys is simply breathtaking. Finding the right tours, rentals and locations is tricky. Let us help you take the guesswork out of your next paddling adventure. For more information on where to eat, drink, sleep, shop and play on your next Florida Keys trip read our Key West Road Trip post.
Key Largo
Baker’s Key Resort, a Hilton Curio property. This is the place that started it all. This is where I learned to paddleboard. The resort is pricy but watersports are included and you launch right from the private beach. If you can afford it, upgrade to a waterview room.
Florida Bay Outfitters– love this place. I always find unique gear, supplies and swimwear. This is where I purchased the UPF 50+ (sun protective) swim dress that you see me wearing in most of my paddleboarding videos. They rent kayaks and offer tours. Staff is always super helpful.
Islamorada
Founder’s Park– we launched our inflatable kayak from the beach area. Short trip, fun day.
Key West
Sunset Water Sports– for this trip we took the Mangrove and Sandbar tour. You board a catmaran from the wharf. It’s about a 25 minute trip to a small mangrove area and you kayak for about 25minutes. Next you head out to the sanbar where you can paddle, play water games or sunbathe on the boat. Beer and mimosa flow generously. Lunch, snacks and beverages are included. You get about 90min on the sandbar before returning to the dock. Fun day trip.
Dry Tortugas National Park
We’ve done the Fort Tour and swam here on a day trip via the Dry Tortugas Yankee Freedom Ferry. There are no kayak or paddleboard rentals. If you are lucky enough to book a camping spot you can call and might be lucky enough to book space to bring your own paddleboard. We want to paddle here. Stay tuned…
