Tideland Brewing General information
Tideland Brewing is a Harvest Host location in Charleston, South Carolina. It’s worth a visit on your next trip to Charleston if you like visiting breweries or are in need of overnight parking for your Airstream or RV using your Harvest Host membership.
Tideland Brewing is located in North Charleston, SC, conveniently located a few minutes off of Interstate 26. We were headed home to Florida from Asheville, NC. Maps will tell you it’s only 4 hours but that portion of the trip home always takes us longer than it says and there is usually some sort of accident or slow down. It was a 5 hour trip and a perfect place to call it a day.
Plus, it is a Harvest Host location which meant we could use our camping budget dollars for beer instead.
What is Harvest Host?
Harvest Host is a camping membership program that connects you with breweries, distilleries, farms and other attractions for one night of free overnight RV parking. In exchange you are asked to support the local business, either with a purchase or helping out. Not a bad deal if you like this sort of thing. It works for us, it’s kind of our thing.
For other locations read about our choices for Best Harvest Hosts Locations in the South for more breweries and distilleries.
Getting to Tideland Brewing
Tideland Brewing is a little hard to find. It doesn’t come up correctly on Google Maps. although the business is working on creating a second entrance. If you are not familiar with the area, look for the Honda/Velocity Powersports dealer and the brewery is directly behind it.
Check-in Process
You need to check-in before the brewery closes at 9pm. Remember, you part of the deal is to support the business so you need to arrive before closing time.
Check-in is pretty straight forward. Drive up, check-in with one of the bartenders and you will be directed to park in a well maintained grassy area.
Once you get settled, head over to the brewery for a pint, a meal and some friendly conversation.
Parking
Parking at Tideland Brewing is a well maintained grass lot with shade trees in the back.
Tideland Brewing Beer & Food Options
Tideland Brewing has a good beer selection including four distinctly different, perfectly brewed IPA’s as well as a solid Porters and Stouts. They have other styles, but those are the ones that sampled on our flights. Yes, they serve flights as well as pints. And there’s food. Pub style menu with plenty of options.
Service
The barkeeps or beertenders, Molly and Justin were gracious hosts and the owner was a nice guy. We traded stories of other beer adventures and travel. Somehow our conversation turned from beer to bourbon and gin, go figure. We were treated warmly and as valued guests which really set this place apart.
Beer Garden
If the weather is nice or if you are traveling with dogs and/or children be sure to check out the beer garden. There is an outside bar, lots of chairs, fenced area and games such as corn hole and Connect Four.
WiFi
If you need WiFi while at Tideland Brewing and have a TravlFi it should work fine. We had a strong signal. If you need internet while you travel and are considering buying a mobile hotspot read our Best Tips for Working Remotely article.
Pets
Very pet friendly. The beer garden is fenced. Well-behaved pets welcome.
Other Recommended Places to Visit
The brewery closes at 9pm. If you are looking for more late night fun, head over to the Park Circle District for more bars and restaurants.
There’s also a great little coffeeshop, Orange Spot if you want coffee, thai tea or breakfast items the following morning. The red pepper sausage and goat cheese quiche was quite delicious.
If you are looking for spirits, Molly and Justin recommend trying these spots Gin Joint, Nippitaty Distillery and Hi Wire Distilling Company. We didn’t make it to any of them but plan to on our next visit to Charleston.
